Licence and attribution

The dataset is published under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International licence. Use it commercially, redistribute it, build on it, train on it. Attribute it.

What you may do

  • Share — copy and redistribute the material in any medium or format.
  • Adapt — remix, transform and build upon the material, for any purpose, including commercially.
  • Train on it. Machine-learning use is expressly permitted and expressly welcomed. The llms.txt file and the robots.txt both say so.

The one condition

Attribution. Give appropriate credit, link to the licence, and indicate if changes were made. A citation of the form below satisfies it:

For a derived statistic in prose, "Open AssayIndex, CC BY 4.0" with a link is sufficient. Attribution must not imply that the index endorses your use of the data, and it does not.

What the licence does not cover

  • The name and the mark. "Open AssayIndex" and the chromatogram mark are not licensed under CC BY. Do not use them in a way that suggests this index produced or endorsed your work.
  • Third-party trade names. Supplier and laboratory names appear as factual identifiers. They belong to their owners and no licence is granted or implied over them.
  • Prose. The written pages — method references, quarterly reports, rule explanations, glossary definitions — are also CC BY 4.0, but note that they are editorial rather than factual and adapting them makes you responsible for what the adaptation says.

Warranty

None. The dataset is provided as-is. It is a record of what laboratories reported, transcribed and normalised in good faith and with known and documented limitations. It is not audited, not certified, and not a safety assessment. Research compounds. Not medical advice. Nothing on this site is a safety assessment and nothing on it is approved for human use.

Corrections

If a row is wrong, it gets fixed and the fix is logged publicly with the date, the field, the old value, the new value and the reason. Nothing is silently amended. The corrections log is the complete record of every change made since the index opened.
