Funding and sponsors
The index sells nothing and takes no money from any supplier it publishes results about. It carries four disclosed sponsor units. This page says exactly what they are and exactly what they do not buy.
What sponsorship buys
A placement, in a fixed slot, with a fixed label reading "sponsor". That is the entire list.
What it does not buy
- No influence on a result. Sponsors do not see records before publication, cannot request changes, and cannot have a record removed.
- No influence on a rule. The 12 anomaly rules and their thresholds are set from the data and published with their predicates. No sponsor has ever been consulted on one.
- No influence on ordering. No table on this site is ordered by anything other than a stated column, and no sponsor appears higher in any listing than its data puts it.
- No suppression. Where a sponsor is also a subject of the index, its records are published on identical terms — including the unflattering ones. GL Biochem's scorecard and Janoshik's laboratory page both carry the index's ordinary caveats and neither is softened.
Why supplier money is refused
Because the index publishes comparative statements about suppliers, and a supplier who pays for a placement on a page that ranks it has bought something whether or not anyone intended to sell it. The two sponsor categories accepted are analytical laboratories and reference-material vendors — parties whose commercial interest lies in more testing happening rather than in any particular result — and one contract synthesis house whose material is measured here in the same way everyone else's is.
Current sponsors
All four, in full, with their disclosures. Alongside them, each scorecard carries one storefront link to the supplier it assesses, marked nofollow and sponsored. Neither is paid for by the supplier.
Costs
The index is a static site: a generator, 6,722 records, and object storage. It employs nobody. Sponsorship covers hosting, the domain, and the reference materials the data team buys to check compound masses against. There is no salary line and no surplus.
What the index would refuse
- Money from any supplier whose products are indexed here.
- Any arrangement conditional on a result, a threshold, a placement or an ordering.
- Affiliate commission on any purchase, which is why the storefront links on scorecards are marked nofollow and sponsored and earn the index nothing.
- Payment to expedite, prioritise or promote a submission.
