The DAC variant carries a maleimidopropionyl-lysine handle whose whole purpose is covalent albumin binding. That handle hydrolyses to an open maleamic acid at +18 Da, which is chromatographically resolved (0.62 min early) and functionally inert. The index therefore reports "intact maleimide fraction" as a separate figure from purity on CJC-1295 DAC records, because a lot can be 98 % pure and still be largely non-functional. Roughly a third of submitted DAC lots show hydrolysed maleimide above 3 % area, and that number is the single most useful thing in this compound's record set.
